Mu Pi Chapter Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Professor Edward R. Homewood, [founder and first] advisor to the Mu Phi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Harold Washington College, established the fund in memory of Phillip Washington, former secretary of the Chapter, who passed away in 1987. The fund is to provide aid to students who wish to enter writing, communications and allied fields. Scholarship monies, up to $1,000/semester, are to be used to defray educational costs while enrolled at CCC.

Requirements:
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- High school or GED graduate.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of the City of Chicago, and eligible for in-district tuition rates.
- Must be a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) at Harold Washington pursuing an associates degree with a focus in writing, communications, or an allied field.

Preferences:
- Phi Theta Kappa membership preferred, but not a requirement.
- Extracurricular activities and/or community service are not required, but will strengthen the application.
