Romulo V. Ronquillo Memorial Scholarship For Respiratory Care

This endowed scholarship has been established to honor the life and legacy of Romulo V. Ronquillo. Mr. Ronquillo graduated from National University in Manila, Philippines and became an elementary school math teacher in the Philippines. In 1970, he immigrated to the United States, and attended Malcolm X College. After his studies he became a respiratory therapist and had a thirty-year career the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Hospital.

Selected recipients of the scholarship will receive a total of $11,000 spread over four equal disbursements of $2,750 to cover four semesters of the Respiratory Care program.

Scholarship criteria
- Student must be successfully admitted to the Malcolm X College A.A.S. in Respiratory Care program.
- Must commit to completing the Respiratory Care Program within 2-years.
- Cumulative GPA on prerequisite coursework of 2.75 or higher.
- Must demonstrate financial need through FAFSA or alternate application.
- Priority consideration will be provided to self-identified immigrant students or students seeking a career change into Respiratory Care.
- For renewal, the student must continue to meet the above criteria.
