Kenneth Monarrez Scholarship

This scholarship has been established to honor the life and legacy of the late Kenneth Alexander Monarrez. In accordance with the Chicago Community Colleges’ purpose to promote, facilitate and increase the knowledge and understanding of the vital role of academics in a student’s life, this scholarship program will foster and recognize the distinguished scholastic, leadership and attributes of the student throughout their educational career.

Selected students will receive a renewable $500 scholarship for six consecutive semesters (not including summer) OR until completion of the program, as long as they meet the following criteria:

• Established/Current Students within CCC with a minimum of 6 credit hours completed
• Must be in the Health Sciences career focus area
• Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
• Essay describing the applicant’s strengths, accomplishments, community involvement and academic and career goals.
• Evidence of community/extracurricular involvement
• 1 letter of recommendation – this can be from a professor, former teacher, clergy, or member of the community.
CCC students meeting the above criteria are eligible to apply regardless of citizenship status.
