United Center Strive Scholarship

The purpose of the Malcolm X College (MXC) Strive Scholarship is to support students who do not qualify for FAFSA funding, such as Pell and MAP grants. This scholarship will be awarded to students whose academic program is Non-Degree (NODC) and are taking prerequisites for a MXC Selective Admissions programs. The scholarship will be pay tuition for Malcolm X College classes ONLY.

Students who are awarded the scholarship must meet eligibility criteria listed below.

Eligibility:
• Non-Degree seeking Student (Program Plan is NODC)
• Have a minimum GPA 2.0 selective programs may require a 2.5 GPA, determination will be made upon review of your application
• Have completed an Associate, Bachelor, AC/BC or Advanced Degree
• Be Enrolled for at least 3 credit hours
• Have Completed the FAFSA/Alternative Application (if applicable)
• Have MXC as your home campus
• Be a Resident of the City of Chicago and/or eligible for in-district tuition
• Be enrolled in pre-requisites classes for a MXC Selective Admissions Program

Due to the nature of the scholarship, students are encouraged to hold classes with a payment plan. Applicants will be notified of the decision regarding their scholarship application. Upon approval, processing time can take 8-10 weeks from the start of the semester before scholarship payment is applied to a student’s account. Scholarship payment is contingent on enrollment in the semester for which the scholarship application was submitted. Scholarships are not transferable to other terms. Approved students have the option to ask for payment plan suspension and should contact the Malcolm X College Business Office.
